TCU Stage 2 – transmission calibration for modified engines

Automatic transmission control unit calibration (TCU Stage 2) for vehicles with a modified engine, for example after Stage 2 or with supporting hardware.

Raised torque limits, adjusted shift strategy and shift speed and clutch pressures matched to the engine output. The file is prepared for the exact TCU software version.

Requests are submitted from a DR-files account. If you are not signed in, you will be asked to sign in or register first. The selected service is kept.

Service details

The TCU Stage 2 calibration is matched to the engine calibration; therefore state which ECU file is in the vehicle (Stage 1, Stage 2, power and torque according to your specification).

Required information

  • Vehicle manufacturer, model, year and engine code
  • TCU manufacturer, hardware and software number (if known)
  • Complete original file read from the TCU, the tool and the read method used
  • Current engine calibration (Stage 1/2) and the list of hardware modifications

Typical workflow

  1. 01Choose the service and enter the vehicle and control unit details.
  2. 02Upload the original file.
  3. 03Fixed prices are charged from your credits when you submit; other prices are confirmed in the request and charged when you accept them.
  4. 04The file is prepared and delivered in your account.

Technical notes

  • The fixed price in credits is deducted when the request is submitted. The file is prepared for the exact software version and checked before delivery.
  • TCU calibration is done only where the transmission software and hardware allow it. The mechanical limits of the transmission are not changed by the modification.

Frequently asked questions

When is TCU Stage 2 needed instead of a regular TCU calibration?

When the torque of the modified engine exceeds the limits of the original transmission or when shifting should be adapted to the higher output. For a stock engine a regular TCU calibration is usually enough.

Do I need an engine calibration from DR-files?

No. The TCU calibration is matched to an existing ECU file as well; state its parameters or attach the file for review.
